Briefing on the highlights of the work of the Ukrainian delegation in UN Security Council

On June 2nd, the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN held a briefing for journalists from UN’s accredited media outlets. This briefing highlighted the work of the Ukrainian delegation in the Security Council in May, as well as the recent developments in Ukraine.

Ambassador of Ukraine Volodymyr Yelchenko briefed on his recent visit to the Central African Republic as Chairman of the UNSC Committee 2127 (2013) on May 24–27th, during which he met with the President, Prime Minister, and other members of the government of CAR. During his visit, Ambassador Yelchenko also toured the internally displaced persons camp in Bambari, CAR. The visit of Mr. Yelchenko to CAR occurred in the context of Ukraine’s effort as head of the UNSC Committee to enhance the contribution of the Security Council in promoting the stabilization of the situation in the country.

Mr. Yelchenko also explained the recent developments in the certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine, and in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
